Emergency Coverage Policy

Emergency service is available for large animals only. This includes horses, mules, donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, cattle, and pigs. The doctor will triage emergency calls as they come in, but Current Wellness Clients will get priority and a discounted emergency fee. Non-client emergencies will be offered care if time allows but cannot be guaranteed. Often there is more availability for emergency care if you can haul your animal to our office (and the office call is less expensive than a farm call).

What is a Current Wellness Client? To be considered a Current Wellness Client, you must have a routine wellness exam AND either vaccines or dentistry services within the last 12 months.

We do not offer emergency or sick care for small animals including dogs and cats. We recommend that our clients with dogs and cats get established with a primary care small animal veterinarian in the area to ensure they can receive after hours emergency care if needed.

We try our best to be available after hours but there are some circumstances that may require you to trailer your animal for care to a referral hospital in Wisconsin or downstate in Michigan. Thank you for your understanding as our doctor tries to make sure she can effectively offer the high standard of care you are used to. Please contact the office by email or phone with any questions.
